The ELISA Project aims to make it easier for companies to build and certify Linux-based safety-critical applications – systems whose failure could result in loss of human life, significant property damage or environmental damage.
Boeing recently joined ELISA as a Premier member and helped launch an Aerospace Working Group. Read more about Boeing's ambition to lead standardization around open source products enhanced for safety-critical avionics applications through participation in open source such as the ELISA Project.
Robert Bosch GmbH and XPENG Motors are ELISA's newest General members. Read more about their commitment to Linux and its effective use in safety-critical applications in connected cars.
Steven H. VanderLeest, Software Engineering Technical Lead at The Boeing Company, reflected upon his personal journey of having crawled, walked, and run with Linux and now taking flight with Linux in this linux.com article. The ELISA Aerospace Working Group, led by Steven H. VanderLeest, is setting out to pave a path for collaboration in order to tackle the challenge of using Linux more broadly and at higher levels of assurance in the Aerospace industry. The group has just launched. Sign up today to participate and collaborate.

ELISA Seminar Series focuses on topics related to ELISA and its mission. Speakers are members, contributors, and thought leaders from the ELISA Project and surrounding communities.
Shuah Khan, Linux Fellow at The Linux Foundation, mentored Shefali Sharma this year through Discovering Linux kernel subsystems, an LFX Mentorship sponsored by ELISA. They shared detailed findings in this white paper.
The ELISA Technical Steering Committee (TSC) provides technical oversight of the project. The annual election for this year was held in the fall. And we're excited to welcome Philipp Ahmann as the new TSC Chair and look forward to Philipp's leadership for the technical community. And a big shout-out to Shuah Khan, who served in this role for the last two terms.
We would also like to welcome 3 new TSC members, Milan Lakhani, Steven H. VanderLeest, and Sudip Mukherjee. They're looking forward to contributing their expertise and working with others who are finding ELISA as the home to collaborate on effective use of open source in safety-critical systems.
Open Invitation - Get Involved and Start Contributing
As an open source project, ELISA welcomes contributors globally to participate in the community and collaborate with others to bridge the gap between functional safety and Linux kernel development velocity in order to advance open source in safety-critical systems. There are a variety of ways to participate and contribute:
